Policies
Any Nova Scotia resident may register as a Borrower by completing our registration form. Borrowers are responsible for returning all materials in good condition, or they must pay for a replacement. If borrowers have unreturned items or charges and fines on their account, borrowing privileges will be suspended until the account is in good standing.
Non-residents may apply for temporary borrowing privileges but must submit a deposit for the value of the books borrowed. The deposit will be returned when the books have been.
There is no maximum number of books that may be borrowed. Books can be taken out for 3 weeks and may be renewed once for a total of a 6-week borrowing time. Books are not available for renewal if there is a hold on said item. Renewals may be done via the borrower’s on-line account or in person at The Study Room during open hours.
Borrowers will be notified by email three days before materials are due, as a reminder to return them on time or to renew them. Overdue email reminders will be sent on the second, seventh and tenth day after an item is late.
A late fee of $5 will be applied to an account after the third overdue email. Such accounts will be considered in bad standing. All materials will need to be returned or replaced, and all fees will need to be paid in order to return an account to good standing.
The registered member will be held responsible for all materials borrowed and for the payment of any fines or fees on his or her account.

Material Gifts
Extra books lying around getting dusty? We know what to do with those! The Study Room is happy to accept donations of books, Christian fiction to non-fiction to everything in between. Faith-based media materials are also welcome, such as DVDs. We do reserve the right to determine if the materials adhere to our Material Selection Policy and the means of disposal of materials that we are unable to use. We are so thankful for your support.

The purpose of this policy is to help users understand the process those of us choosing materials go through to decide if we should keep or purchase a specific resource. This policy applies to all print, non-print and electronic materials for children, teens, and adults.
As a privately owned library, the materials selected will adhere to the goal of The Study Room, which “is to provide a safe environment in which seekers, learners, and followers of God can feed their souls by borrowing and purchasing trustworthy materials that teach, encourage, and exhort them in the LORD and in holy living.” Our hope is that it is here where the love of knowledge meets the knowledge of love (1 Corinthians 8:1), that God is made real, and that the Bible is made knowable.
In order to uphold our mandate to have trustworthy materials, we will only select resources with authors who have exemplary lives. They must practice what they preach. Walk the walk if they talk the talk, as they say.
Selection, and possible deselection, will also be based on funds and space, materials already owned, and the usage (or lack thereof) of a resource.
Patrons of The Study Room are welcome to login to the local Wi-fi connection by scanning the QR code located on the front of the check out desk.
A computer is provided for staff use only at this time.
